FAQ for Serious Handlers

Clear answers about material, widths, thickness, Super Grip, lengths, and how to choose the right setup for your dog and your work.

Choosing the Right Setup

How do I choose the right width?

The right width depends on your dog, how hard the dog pulls, how you handle the gear, and what job the gear needs to do. Smaller widths reduce weight, while wider builds offer a more substantial feel and may suit stronger dogs or heavier handling needs.

What is the difference between Lightweight and Heavyweight?

Both can be strong and useful, but they feel different in hand. Lightweight reduces weight and can increase flexibility. Heavyweight offers a more substantial feel and is often preferred when more handling comfort or a more solid feel is desired.

How do I choose the right length?

Length depends on the work. Shorter lengths can improve control in tighter environments. Longer lines are often better for tracking, field work, and situations where more range is needed.

Biothane and Super Grip

What is Biothane?

Biothane is a coated webbing material chosen for durability, easy cleaning, water resistance, and practical handling in demanding conditions.

Why would I choose Biothane over more traditional materials?

Because it handles wet, muddy, and demanding conditions well, cleans easily, and offers consistent performance for working-dog use.

What is Super Grip?

Super Grip is a specific material family with textured bumps that create a more aggressive grip feel in hand. It is available only in supported widths and is built in Heavyweight.

Which widths are available in Super Grip?

For the visualizer and current build logic, Super Grip is available in 5/8 inch and 3/4 inch only.

Can I get Super Grip in Lightweight?

No. Super Grip is Heavyweight only.

Collars, Hardware, and Handling

What collar widths are available?

Working collars are currently planned around 1 inch and 1.5 inch BioThane options.

How do I choose hardware?

Choose hardware based on how you clip in, the kind of control you want, and the use case for the gear. Different hardware types fit different preferences and working styles.

Should I choose a handle or no handle?

That depends on how you use the line. Some handlers prefer a standard handle, while others prefer no handle for cleaner drag and fewer snags in certain environments.

Ordering and Next Steps

What if I know exactly what I want already?

Go straight to Ready-to-Ship if you want gear that is already built, or use Build Your Gear if you need a more exact setup.

What if I am not sure what to choose?

Start with Build Your Gear. The builder flow is being designed to help you understand the choices before you request a setup.

Will the site show a visual preview of my setup?

Yes. The Build Your Gear page is being prepared to host the K9NOZ visualizer so buyers can preview material, width, thickness, color, hardware, and handle choices before submitting a build request.

Still Deciding?

Use the builder to configure the setup that fits your dog and your work, or browse gear that is already built and available now.
